About Amy

Amy Stevens math tutoring and digital SAT test prep

I have been teaching and training students in academics, technology and "making" for over 20 years. Currently, I teach and tutor K-12 and college students, working primarily with middle schoolers and high school students in math including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, math analysis, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, and data science; I also help college-bound high school students prep for college entrance exams, including the digital SAT, PSAT, and ACT.

I have experience with all types of student needs, from gifted and high-performing academic students to those interested in hands-on work, dual enrollment, online learning, eclectic curriculum, students planning on attending 4-year universities and those heading to community college. I especially enjoy helping young women and students with learning differences.

I love to see that spark of understanding and the joy of learning in my students. I believe in a growth mindset, and that learning can and should be fun.

Sessions focus on three areas: content mastery, confidence, and performance. Students learn study and test-taking skills, along with tools to overcome any math or test anxiety.

I hold a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in business. I am passionate about teaching and especially about math - I believe all students can love and be successful doing math. I am known for my ability to ignite an interest in math in even the most reluctant math learners. Most of all, I believe the parent-child relationship is the most important part of a student’s life; let me do the heavy lifting so you can just enjoy your sweet kids!

Testimonials:

“Amy is a joy to know and work with. We have 4 kids who are all so different. She's done a great job getting to know each of them and finding things they love to do, especially the hands-on activities this year. They look forward to seeing her and she is such a blessing to our family. I don't know what we'd do without her!” - satisfied parent. I taught math at elementary through college calculus level for all 4 students over the course of several years, and helped the two oldest with college entrance exam prep.

“Amy focused our son on studying for the ACT to achieve his best results. He walked in on test day well prepared and with a game plan on how to approach that beast of a test. He enjoyed his time studying with her and did VERY well on the ACT. He got into all his top choice schools. Amy, thank you!” - satisfied parent
